Our company, Glymetrix, has built an innovative system to help people with diabetes improve self-management of their disease. The system uses a fun and engaging approach called the ”Game Zone” at http://www.diabetesgame.com. In the Game Zone, players can access games, information, and social networking for support to take better care of themselves. We chose games because they are a more enjoyable way to handle diabetes management than books, graphs, or lectures.
Our target audience is 45 years old and older with Type II diabetes which can be effectively managed through personal behavior, especially diet and physical activity. They are male and female and all ethnic groups. A great deal information is published about what diabetics should do. There are many websites that provide information and, yet, there are still many people who don’t do what they should because it is tedious, boring, constant, and, basically, not a lot of fun. We have picked casual games that are intuitively easy for them to understand and many have a retro feel. These include quiz, word, card, puzzle, and strategy games.
We want a new logo design that will provide an approachable and exciting identity to a serious subject like diabetes. See the attached new website layout to get an idea of the look and feel we are expecting. Clean, professional but fun and approachable.
The design should appeal to mature adults, but be fun and engaging. Our current websites are very inadequate in doing this. We have two sites with different identities – a corporate site and a game site. You can view these at http://www.glymetrix.com and http://www.diabetesgame.com. These sites will be combined in the new web design. You will see from the attachment how this will work in the new website layout. We are open to creative thinking about everything – color scheme, fonts, graphics, etc.
We are working with a web design and marketing company that is developing the page layout, user interface, and backend integration but is not doing the graphic design.
You should go to the diabetesgame.com website and play the current quiz game. We can also send you a link to the solitaire game that is under development when you contact us directly.
In many cases it is easier to tell you what we don’t want – many game sites have kids’ games, avatars or cartoon characters like http://www.casualcafe.com, http://www.fitbrain.com . Many medical information sites are clinical or scream diabetes - http://www.diabetes.org One that is somewhat OK is http://www.nonoba.com
