A clean and simple, yet captivating design required for a blog site that is being developed. The site will be @ style.ekoliving.com and is a technology and style blog. Although separate to the rest of the company, the design should use similar colors as to what is used @ ekoliving.com as that is the parent company. As stated, these don't have to look exactly the same. In fact, it would be preferred if they don't. But there does needs to have some consistency between them, so they can be recognized as part of the same family.

The sites that style.ekoliving.com are based on are gizmodo.com and techeblog.com

The client prefers the simpler look of gizmodo.com, but it would be preferred to center the fixed width site on the page. Also for browsers using large resolutions, the design should incorporate something in the background that tiles across the screen. This will ensure that there isn't a nice little site sitting in the middle of a big page on large resolution browsers.

The design will include the style.ekoliving.com in the top left hand side. Using the ekoliving logo could be good with the text style. and .com on either side of the logo

The tagline is long, but we hope the designer could nicely incorporate it into the site. The tagline is:

'Style meets convenience, security and home energy efficiency. News and entertainment for gadget lovers'

Google Ads will be included on the site. We welcome suggestions for how these are laid out on the page. We don't want them to be in your face, so perhaps down the side would be best.

Also 2x Apple Affiliate banners will be incorporated into the design. 150*140 pixels. An example, is included below.

A search box will be included on the page.

And list of categories will need be included. They currently are Gadgets and Gizmos and Smart Home. But will expand over time so there needs to be space to add more categories later.

We will run this comp for a bit over a week, when we will then take the designs to the client. Once this happens we will extend the comp for a few days so that the favoured design or designs can have the clients suggestions implemented.
