This time, I'm hoping to get the cover for my second book, which is science fiction again.
The look I'm going for this time is similar to what I requested for my previous project, only colors inverted. This time the background should be black or dark gray.
At the top should be the text:
Approaching Infinity Book Two: The Gun Golems
A figure, white or whitish, from the waist or hips up, is sort of looming out of the left side of the cover (but fully visible) at maybe 45 degrees to the viewer, holding a big revolver in its right hand, arm bent at about 90 degrees (gun pointing 45 degrees up).
Here's an actual description from the book:
"...humanoid figures of smooth, seamless metal... Their ovoid heads were featureless except for six one-centimeter holes in a wide V pattern, making a crude face. Marking their shoulders were narrow black depressions, looking almost like straps, that dipped into their chests in the front and reached the bottom of their vague shoulder blades in the back... Upon their hips were great revolvers with long, square barrels that were rather like small cannons." The revolvers' rounded triangular cylinders housed 3 big rounds.
The gun should look like a revolver, but big and not just like a stock photo of a revolver. Square barrel, etc. There are some pics of a Dan Wesson custom revolver to help with that.
Like the first cover, the figure doesn't need much detail, and in fact shouldn't have much, but the "eyes" are important. They look basically like this (please treat the dashes as empty spaces):
For the pose, I've added a James Bond picture. The head of the Gun Golem should be facing the same direction as the body, not looking at the viewer, and the left arm should be loose at its side. The barrel of gun, if possible, should should follow the same angle as the forearm.
The cooler-toy.jpg is the kind of look (proportion-wise) I'd like for the figure.
Depending on how much of the cover the figure takes up, the actual title of the book may fall directly below the series title and should read:
The Gun Golems
But if there is empty space on the right side, it may not look bad if it's right justified
G U N
My name should probably be at the bottom and should read:
These are my initial ideas...
As before, an uncompressed tiff file might be best for final format.
