Skinning / Screen Design for small application

Screen design / skinning for small single screen windows application. We are seeking a clean, impressive, professional look hopefully with some degree of ‘wow’.

What we require is the design/skinning of a very simple application (one screen with two tabs, with possibly splash screen). The sole task of the
application is to connect to a tire pressure monitoring device and download
data. As mentioned the application is simple and
therefore requires only a single screen with some buttons. Down the left panel of that main screen we
require an advertisement for another product that we have developed. We would also require the logos of two
companies to feature in this screen somewhere.

Our goals :

1)
To provide
a professional application

2)
To display
the logos of the two companies involved

3)
To
generate interest in the application that is advertised in the left panel.

This is a
windows application, not a web application.

Please note also that we are not designers, and appreciate any constructive feedback / suggestions / questions.

We have provided guidelines but feel free to come up with designs / ideas that are different if you feel appropriate. We will provide feedback regularly, but bear in mind we are in Australia so there may be a time difference.

We want the feel to be
professional and up to date while reflecting our current corporate style.

Colours : Whatever you
think, however we want this to look like a standard windows application, so
nothing too radical. We also want it to
reflect our current styling. Dark text
on light background preferred.

Style : Current
windows styling for Vista / Xp.

Logos : We will
require both our logo and that of the company that manufactures the pressure
device to feature in this screen if possible.

Advertisement (Left panel): Must
be interesting & different enough from the rest of the screen that the user
is encouraged to click on the link.

Fonts : Standard
windows style fonts for the text part of the screen and standard windows buttons.

Application Size :
Approximately similar size and proportion to the samples in the zip file.

Splash Screen
(Optional) : It might be appropriate to design a splash screen, also,
approximately 5 inch wide 4 inch high to allow for another option. This could be a good way to incorporate both
logos without cluttering the ‘working’ screen.
