Transit Watch (tentative name) is a public transit app on iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch) with over one million downloads. It's designed to be useful for commuters who take public transit everyday. The app allows you to see the estimated time of arrival and also GPS location of buses, streetcars, etc.
The logo will mainly be used for an app icon. So, it must look good in small sizes (consider notifications, Apple Watch app). It also needs to be used in black and white (Apple Watch requires this). Having two variations is an option (one for normal app icon size, and smaller/simpler version for Apple Watch, notifications, black/white.)
The app is available currently for specific transit systems such as San Francisco Muni and Toronto TTC (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/muni-watch-transit-app/id510568895, https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/ttc…505286932)
The plan is to create a new logo and a new name "Transit Watch" and make it available for many cities. So, the logo should not contain a reference to a specific city.
The specified color (#FF6666) is preferred, but it's not a must. It's already used inside the app, but this color can be changed. Whatever the new color is, the interface should be considered since I will need to make adjustments if a new color is used.
I would also like to differentiate this app from many other transit apps. It is okay if the logo is somewhat abstract. (See Mini Metro app icon below.) I value simplicity and prefer round shapes than sharp ones. Rather than literal expressions of bus, map, or location, I want to see exploration of ideas like connection and city.
