Am changing name of my 15-yr old firm to "9South".
We're a small, independent sales firm representing major media brands in the travel, epicurean, outdoors, and luxury categories, managing their advertising sales efforts across the southeast region for all of their platforms -- print, online, iPad, event sponsorships, etc.
I uploaded a basic graphic of initial logo idea. Am interested in reviewing any ideas around how you can improve upon it creatively.

I definitely would like to use the "shield" template like the one in the graphic I uploaded. In other words, please don't swap out for a blue interstate shield, or some state highway signs use circles. I definitely prefer the black & white state "shield".
Also, while not critical, I prefer a typeface that would be similar to the typeface used on actual highway signs.
Other than the b&w shield and typeface, I can't think of any other creative direction to provide. I'm open to:
- making the sign look more weathered and authentic (Route 66-ish?).
- making it look more modern or sleek (like the second graphic I uploaded).
- something artistically drawn.
The logo will be used on our business cards and site as well (will be following up with contests for those as well).
The files required are:
Print file format - .ai (CMYK)
Web file format - .jpg and layered .psd (RGB)
Please do not use any stock images or clip art.
Please send any questions. Thanks.
