We'd like a logo that expresses strength and cooperation, as well as excitement and spontaneity. Think of a strong, dedicated team working together to do something very risky.
Our tagline is "Theatre without a net". This tagline doesn't have to be in the logo. We already have a lot of text in the name, so if the tagline makes it too wordy, feel free to leave it out.
We like the playfulness of the colorful "highwire" logo, but it's too busy, and we also want to show that we're a team.
Ideally we'd convey four things in the logo: risk and excitement, working together, san francisco, and that it's a theater company.
We like the tightrope metaphor with multiple figures because it captures the first two (risk and working together) at once. However, we're not tied to the little figures. In fact they may be too delicate for what we're looking for. If you have other ideas about how to convey some or all of the things above, please go for it, even it has nothing to do with acrobats or tightropes.
We've gotten feedback that the dance/acrobat images make it look like we're a dance company, and we'd like to avoid that. Either with a graphic that doesn't look "dancey", or by incorporating "theatery" imagery, like curtains, spotlight, directors chair.
It would also be interesting to explore "Collective", which could have a retro-soviet/bioshock propaganda poster connection. We originally rejected that idea because we thought it wasn't "fun" enough, but at this point we're leaning more towards "iconic" than "fun".
Ideally, we'd like the focus to be on the image rather than the words, and for the image to be simple, bright, bold, strong, and iconic, and able to stand apart from the text and still be recognizable.
