Piston is a cloud company, providing the products and services that make cloud computing usable. We're built on the OpenStack foundation - an open source platform for cloud providers and end users.
We're an engineering-driven organization - our founders came from NASA and Rackspace - and simply "good enough" never is. We're delivering on the dream of cloud computing - many others are still just dreaming.
Piston takes the hot air of Cloud Computing, and turns an engine of change.
Our customers are the CIOs and IT Managers of the Global 2000. They've got million-dollar problems in billion-dollar businesses, and no time for fluff.
We need a logo, a version one identity, that helps customers and partners understand where we are in this space.
Logo needs to do all the typical logo-ish things: look recognizable at a small size (think favicon), and impressive at a large size (think: sign on building); stand nicely with or without the name;
DO: Play with color
DON'T: Bake the domain name into it (as it may change).
DO: Draw inspiration from steam engines, hot air balloons, model airplanes, the openstack logo itself, etc.
DON'T: Use cats, dogs, or horses.
As a simple concept, a single piston (with crankshaft) sprouting out of a cloud (drawn as the traditional internet symbol) is certainly workable.
The files we will require are:
