Apex Outback Postie Bike Ride
Apex is an Australian Service Club similar to Rotary. The Apex Outback Postie Bike Ride is a unique fundraising concept that has been running for 2 years. The ride covers 1,100 Kilometres (684 miles) over 4 days from Port Augusta - Roxby Downs -Mulgaria Track - Leigh Creek - Arkaroola - Blinman - Wilpena Pond - Port Augusta. The ride is off road, over dirt, creek beds and bush tracks through South Australia's outback and Flinders Rangers. The uniqueness comes from having to ride a Honda CT110 "Postie Bike" motorbike. Which is a light weight 110cc, 4 stroke motor bike which is prodominately used in Australia by the mailmen to deliver mail. Maximum speed approx 70kph (43mph) Please view this link to see television coverage of 2008 event which gives a fantastic understanding of the unique challange & fun of the ride. http://ten.com.au/video-player.htm?…tVideoLink
All riders are required to raise $500 to be able to participate in the ride. These funds go to Childhood Cancer Association "Bradley Place" Which is a rural retreat located in the coastal town of Victor Harbour in South Australia where families who have been touched by childhood cancer can go for a free holiday to relax and have an enjoyable time building precious positive family memories.
There are 3 types of target audience that this event appeals to. Firstly the motor bike enthusiast who is motivated by the challenge and mateship of riding a light weight motorbike over some of the harshest, most scenic country in Australia. Secondly people who are motivated to become involved purely to raise funds for the Childhood Cancer. The third group have seen the concept and just want to be involved because it looks so unique & is a fantastically enjoyable once in a lifetime experience. The slogan for the ride is "Are you MAIL enough to ride a Postie"
We are looking for a bold logo which includes an image of a Honda CT110 "postie bike" with a rider. The name Apex Outback Postie Bike Ride needs to be incorporated into the logo. The logo needs to not be to busy as it will be required to be embroidered onto shirts.
