Content for a Convergent World: Content Strategy, Development, and Management
Hi, I'm Peg...
I’m a Content Developer, who has worked in Boston’s high technology sector for about ten years, supporting technical communication, and more recently, content marketing requirements. I am currently working on a technical writing contract, in an educational setting. I also contribute to MarketingProfs Get to the Po!nt newsletters on search engine marketing and was featured in C.B. Whittemore’s e-book, Social Media’s Collective Wisdom: Simplifying Marketing With Social Media.
My blog, at http://pegmulligan.com, explores the convergence of software and content," or in broader terms, the communications-technology convergence that is occurring across disciplines.
I have a Masters in Technical and Professional Writing from Northeastern University, with a concentration in Writing for the Computer Industry.
Additional coursework includes Human Factors, Usability Testing, and User Interface Design from the User Experience Design Certificate program, offered by Bentley University. Last summer, I completed Inbound Marketing Certification through HubSpot’s Inbound Marketing University, with a focus on blogging, social media, lead conversion, lead nurturing, and closed-loop analysis.
My blog has a cross disciplinary focus, as content is important to all knowledge workers, which includes most of us today.
The convergence of communications with technology touches every professional discipline. Through my blog posts, I explore the digital acumen, so necessary for all knowledge workers to remain competitive in today's global workforce.
I hope to engage other technical communicators, content & social media marketers, user experience specialists, instructional designers, product managers, customer experience specialists, and the many other technical colleagues who make my line of work such a rich, cross-disciplinary experience.
My current business card from Vista Print shows rolling hills, with networked computers set up at various points on the different hills, with little squiggles showing info flowing between the computers. It uses muted shades of green and purple/lavender. (I like it. Plz see attached.)
I love the outdoors aspect of the design, too, and the oneness of the scene, with the distinctness of the separate computers still evident. I think networking images really apply well here, as that's how the Internet works.
I'd also somehow like to get the words Content for a Convergent World into the logo design, if possible.
Not sure how to build a logo for such a lengthy title...maybe my convergent world could somehow be built into a letter in the text...or hovering about the text part of the logo...
Really important to appeal to both a business and technical audience, in enterprise (large company) settings, as well as the small start up.
Approach here is very inclusive.
The sub-title for my blog is Content Strategy, Development, and Management. It's not a requirement to get all that in there (Content for a Convergent World suffices), but if you can work with the additional info, there it is...
I've never done this before...Feel free to surprise me and not feel too hemmed in...Thank you for your help!
