We are a behind-the-scenes company, discreet. But we provide the knowledge to make live concerts happen on a nightly basis, moving from city to city.
The name of the company is Hopscotch Touring. The website is hstouring.com. The mantra I'm working on is "over-prepare and go with the flow" ... although that doesn't need to be included.
The name Hopscotch comes from one of my favorite books, Hopscotch by Julio Cortazar. It's a 1960's magic-realism novel. The book gets its name because the reader can jump around, starting on any chapter at any time. It can be read in any order. I like the name for the business because what we do is jump around from city to city, or country to country. The logistics involved become fundamental as tours scale larger because the schedule is very fast-paced. It's also surreal in a sense to say fly from Beijing to London because the time and cultural differences can be extreme. Then to Auburn, Alabama, then to Mexico City, etc.
So we are there "on the road" with the tour. But the other aspect is that we are a "home base" in a sense. We provide logistics from NYC before the tour starts and also while the tour is happening. So there will be crew that we provide who travel with the tour. And then someone in NYC will stay on top of everything in a big picture sort of way. So in that sense we provide 1.) "on the road" and 2.) "home base" services. The "home base" would be the bigger picture aspect, and the "on the road" would be day to day, very detail oriented.
I have a problem with always trying to input too much info. So while I wrote a lot above, what I'm looking for is something simple. I guess that's the point of a logo but just wanted to mention it.
I attached 2 images of the cover of the book Hopscotch. These are on the 1st edition of the book. Obviously can't use these, but it's an idea.
I tried at one point to create my own logo, but I couldn't get it to where I wanted because my skills are quite limited. But it could also be a jumping off point. I attached 2 of those images here too. In the logo I created, there are a few ideas. First, the overall design is an "h" and an "s". Secondly, the ideas of "home base" and "on the road" are evident in the overall design. The "home base" idea is represented by the cell tower looking thing that makes up the left side of the 'h'. The "on the road" idea is represented by the hopscotch looking part that makes up the rest of the logo. If I was a better artist I probably could have implemented this idea better, but I gave up after putting in so much time. The badge idea I don't think I really like because it sort of looks like an idea that was trendy 5-10 years ago and it's probably something that I googled and got stuck in my head.
