Messaging Architects now owns the website http://www.imap.org. We are planning to relaunch the site and the next generation of messaging & email protocols around IMAP, the worlds leading open protocol for email transmission (it's what powers email for the iPhone). The inventor of IMAP, Mark Crispin is one of our distinguished engineers who is currently working on the future of IMAP and its implementation in our products. The goal is to create a very strong brand identity for the IMAP protocol. We have a very ambitious agenda around making IMAP a very critical component in the evolution of messaging, especially in the areas of calendaring, mobility and content archiving. Conferences and plugfests will be announced later this year with the support of some of the largest webmail providers, handset makers and email application developers. We want all email users worldwide to become as familiar with IMAP as music buffs have become familiar with the Dolby logo. For the full history of IMAP, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imap
Sharp, simple, elegant and visually arresting. Must be able to look great across multiple uses (color, black/white, big conference room, small logo on mobile phone, backlit on displays, etc...) Should ensure the tie-in to the email world, be bold enough to still be relevant 20 years from now. Should have wide appeal across many cultures.
Logo needs to work with both IMAP and imap.org
Have fun with colors and fonts, avoid static designs that do not go beyond just a fancy font - we need a visual element that is clever and appeals to techies.
