Linked Labs / linkedlabs.com
Linked Labs is a developer-focused Windows virtual server hosting business. We try to cater towards developers and technical users including the things users typically need in the plans rather than charge extra for them and focus on high quality hardware. All services are unmanaged, so we manage the network and host uptime, but users are responsible for their own virtual servers.
We were previously under another name and maintained a small customer base, but are opening up in the next few months and needed a better name, one people could pronounce, spell, and that we could get the .com of.
We are targeting:
- Developers on the .NET/Windows platform.
- Small businesses with enough expertise to manage themselves
- Freelancers and contractors who need a host to work with for client projects. Some of our users are freelancers and they will have support contracts to maintain the applications for their client and will host them with us.
I am looking for a simple, but effective logo.
We'd like a little image incorporated with the logo as a sort of brand, where it could be on a page by itself and users could recognize it. It should be easy to print, such as on a letterhead or in a fax.
For the core logo, would like an emphasis on typography and let the font speak, if that makes sense. Typography can say a lot. We'd like something elegant and modern.
Logo should work on a white and dark background. We don't plan on using it on black, but on the site it might be in front of a header with a colored background.
Colors don't matter, we are open to suggestions. I personally like blue. And I don't really like yellows or oranges.
We want the logo to convey a modern, minimalist, user-oriented look.
Some examples of what I like:
- stackoverflow.com, or some of the others from their final picks of their 99designs contest
- Smashing Magazine's logo
- Yellow Book's new logo
But be creative. I can update the brief later for direction if needed.
Should be in vector format, one that can be opened in Photoshop or Illustrator. Please let us know which font is used. If it is a non-public one, we'll likely want to get a license for it.
Will rate each design based on the following suggested scale:
1 star - Wrong direction, start over again with something completely different
2 star - some elements I like
3 star - getting closer but need revisions or a different take on your design
4 star - design is being considered
5 star - made the final cut!
