focus on severe weather...
Thunderstorms, Lightning, Tornados, Hurricanes, Snow/Blizzards, Strong Winds... when considering imagery.
Understand the idea is to try to communicate with the logo that we offer well rounded solutions across all seasons Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall.
Leveraging Hexagons (Honey Comb shapes)... either linked, stacked or connected with lines or radials. Remember the business is all about information exchange/efficient communication of conditions on the ground. Predictive/Current Conditions/Post Storm Analysis.
Search Honey Comb Logo or Hive Logo on Google. You'll see plenty of great examples...
We want the essence of the honeycomb use of the word "hive" modern... logo and app icon... You get the idea from the name and the essence of the shapes... it's not 100% just a hexagon or group of hexes...
We chose the word Hive to describe what we do because it will be able to accurately convey the focus we have to deliver many industry specific weather products.
Honeycombs stack nicely in all sorts of shapes don't just consider standard representations. Play with it. It's why we chose to do this with a contest.
Hope that helps some.
More Notes from My Messages to Designers:
Hi Folks! Trying to stay as communicative as I can.
Here is some more clarity to help.
My goal is to develop a logo for WeatherHive (think a hive of different weather products with a focus on specific types of weather and weather that is pertinent to different industrial verticals).
Think icon that can be altered to create product identities... or Think icon can deconstruct to make up different components (weather types and verticals). So that when all the pieces come together they form the main brand (the hive of products).
If we have weatherhive.com main logo / snowtotals.weatherhive.com / transport.weatherhive.com / alerts.weatherhive.com / eventtracking.weatherhive.com
Ideas for inspiration regarding useful shapes for that would likely be used in variations of the logo design to represent some of those products listed above.
Wind / Gusts
Snow & Ice Removal
Forecast Management System (Event and Threat Driven)
Hopefully you guys get what I am thinking about.
There are definitely some cool concepts in the mix. Most are too specific.
