The Consortium Mission
To create a sustainable environment that is relational, inspiring, trusting and engaging, built on a foundation that reflects the vision and values of the consortium; offering skills-training, work-focused opportunities and support for individuals facing multiple disadvantage; and ultimately to stimulate, promote and encourage a purposeful, drug and/or offending-free lifestyle in a working society.
The Consortium Values
We value the individuality of each individual who accesses support or services
We value integrity in all that we say and do as individuals and as an organisation
We value the aspiration to be the best that we can be as individuals and as an organisation
The Consortium Purpose
The primary purpose of the consortium is to provide meaningful work-focused training and experience that leads to real and lasting opportunities to engage in a purposeful, working lifestyle.
The primary purpose is supported by the following secondary purposes:
1. Offer meaningful work-focused training opportunities.
Through social enterprise activities in agriculture, horticulture, carpentry, engineering and retail, provide a wide-range of vocationally-focused training opportunities. Training opportunities will be geared towards upskilling disadvantaged individuals (in particular those in the Criminal Justice System, and/or facing issues around substance misuse, homelessness and benefit dependency).
2. Offer meaningful work experience opportunities.
We believe that at the core of a stable and purposeful life is meaningful work that provides economic independence to individuals, families and communities. This could be through volunteering, or paid employment.
We recognise that for many people facing multiple disadvantage, and certainly for those within the population that the project will primarily seek to reach, a working lifestyle often seems out of reach.
The consortium directly confronts this mindset through the provision of meaningful work experience opportunities that will be part of a broader intervention to inspire, encourage and support a pathway into a purposeful, working lifestyle.
3. Offer meaningful exploration of lifestyle issues.
We believe that everyone has the potential to live a purposeful life, although their path may have been impacted by external circumstance that resulted in decisions and behaviour that has resulted in that potential going unrealised. In a supported, therapeutic environment, we provide an atmosphere that enables individuals to build an awareness of self, confronting the barriers created by the circumstances and events of life, and establish a positive self-image underpinned by growing self-esteem, self-confidence and positive self-talk.
