Cloudtrend should uses the concept of a CLOUD to represent our solutions and range of colors (ie. like the colors of a rainbow) to represent the TREND in building great solutions.
Initially, I have the idea of a cloud and a rainbow integrated together somehow as the logo. But that is the old style. I am open to new and modern ideas.
Simplicity (focus on font, style, text and simple mark that conveys the idea)
Cloud (simple cloud may suffice, ie. skype, salesforce)
Rainbow colors (doesn't have to be exact colors, but range of bright colors is what I am looking for, the range of colors can be like a gradient or not)
Emblem (not my first preference)
I prefer something more web 2.0 combinded with pictorial or abstract mark. I prefer having a mark right beside the words. I am not sure what order is better. The mark can act as its own logo to signify the brand. But it will tie in some how when put besides the words.
The word CloudTrend besides the mark can be more web 2.0. I am not sure how the range of colors can tie into the word Trend. I hope that is possible. I am not sure what case is best for the letters either.
In this case it can be (CLOUDTREND, cloudtrend, CloudTrend or Cloudtrend).
As an example of my vision, you can have a mark that looks like the letters C and t which is short for Cloudtrend. The C can be made up of clouds and the t can be made up of a double cross rainbow of colors that look somewhere between an "x" and a "t". I would imagine one rainbow to have faded colors to bring out the letter t more.
I have attached a sample cloudcomputing.jpg image file I found on the web which gives me a new design idea. I would like to see some ideas around stack clouds having different color shades. The colors can provide the trendy look. Once again, simplicity and creativity is what I am looking for.
As part of the deliverables, I will need jpg, psd, and ai or eps formats.
I will also need a mark in .ico formats that can fit in a square with the size like 16x16, 32x32, 48x48, 96x96, etc. I will also need different background versions, like on black and white, or other blended background colors. I will need a description of the fonts, colors, style used.
Simplicity and creativity will be award the most points. I have given some insight but I am not creative designer. I want to see what you can do. Winner is allowed to use my logo and website link in their portfolio. More work may be assigned to the winner or invited directly in the future.
Good luck all and I hope I have given enough insight to award the best designer of this contest. THANKS.
The following is my analysis of other well know logos which may help determine the winner:
Salesforce.com has a logo that uses the cloud. It is very simple. the word salesforce is embedded in the logo. Emblem is not my first preference. The words sales and force are in two different font colours. I like this. And it is lower case, it works out well here. And then it emphasize no software at the lower corner. Note their url icon is just a cloud with no letter. That is too plain for me.
Skype.com uses an embedded logo. Note skype url icon is more web 2.0 using a letter in a embedded cloud.
facebook logo is super simple (two colors: word facebook in white and a background of blue). Favorite icon is f in a background color with a horizontal line at the bottom
twitter logo is the white word with background color and a simple looking bird mark. This is the concept i am looking for (mark and word).
GROUPON again is simple white letters on a black background. It plays with the border transparency and shape to signify the concept of coupon. I like how they integrate the concept of coupon with the words. In this case it is an embedded web 2.0. Nicely done, but not easy for my vision. Favorite icon is big G in a background color.
Google again is simple letters with each alphabet different colors but with some colors repeated. I don't know how they decide on that but it looks really good by itself. In their case, they focused on the oo`s which represent the meaning of zeros in the definition of google. Favorite icon is different this time with `g in a mutlicolor pattern background`.
LinkedIn is very close to what i like, something if possible with focus on both the words cloud and trend. The favorite icon focused on the ìn with a round border background color`.
