Food Safety Lab
Hello design world. I am a Certified Instructor and Registered Proctor for the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification and Examination as well as the ServSafe Alcohol program. I teach nationwide.
I laugh when I see the amateurish styling and difficult navigation that ALL other competitors use for their website. My goal is to first establish a clean logo that embodies a 5-star presence...a way to visually distinguish me from the rest. The program is identical so I'm starting out by wanting to create something that makes me stand out.
I enjoy clean, easy to navigate websites and logos. Look at the elegant styling for http://www.crumbs.com. It simply is a bakeshop...a place to buy a cupcake.. but why does this stand out from others? Does the logo help justify spending $3.75 for a jumbo cupcake??
I need guests to feel a sense of value that will translate first from the logo...and eventually to how the website will be layed out. This contest is focusing on the former.
This logo for Food Safety Lab will be incorporated into my website, http://www.thefoodsafetylab.com (there is no "the" registered with my name...only the domain). There is nothing on my website currently worth looking at. Basic content will be added this week and a new "skin" will be selected temporarily until this contest progresses.
Let me first mention that no one likes to sit through a lecture and class...followed by an exam. But this program meets regulatory requirements in almost all states...and the certification is usually valid for a period of 5 years.
The ideal candidate for this certification are chefs and managers. Some young chefs are brandishing the trendy thick looped earrings and a splash of tattooes, while more conservative target audiences have been in the industry since you were in diapers!
Most large organizations and chain restaurants may not have a need for my services as they usually have internal trainers. I am also authorized to train people on becoming a trainer.
I get inquiries from all walks of the culinary world. Most are first timers, while a few are seeking re-certification. Feel free to browse the ServSafe.com website to see more program details...for each of the 2 programs (ServSafe and ServSafe Alcohol).
Looking to brand myself...to create a logo that personifies and imbues an upper crust mentality while providing a look not dated or amateurish. Yesterdays look will not fly for today's marketplace. I will leave all those to my competitors.
There are several components important to my company that create an edge.
1. I offer a GUARANTEED PASS program
2. I offer flexibility in that I come to your facility to train...at a day/time convenient to you
3. Bulk discounts (sign up more...save $)
The convenience and assurance in my program values will help promote me. If these can be influenced somehow into the logo, great!
The template is yours......I will be more specific on how designs flow into this contest...please no cheesy graphics or cartoonish styling. This means no fruits, vegetables,...
It is important to keep the branding in mind as my long term plan may include components to my website that relate to food, food safety, safety or training (aka Lab). So branding my name is important.
