The Passive Project
The Passive Project is a new nonprofit educational resource that advocates passive, low-cost investing. The project will educate investors and retirement plan sponsors on the benefits of low-cost, long-term investing, and will reach out to the media and opinion leaders with the same purpose. The Passive Project DOES NOT SELL investments or advocate for specific investment companies, and operates solely as a nonprofit education entity.
The Passive Project is targeted to the general population of investors, especially those with self-directed retirement plans such as an IRA or 401(k). It will provide important information to investors of all demographics, investing experience and expertise. It will also target businesses that provide a defined contribution plan for its employees.
We are seeking a logo that includes the use of our name "The Passive Project" or "Passive Project" and, optionally, any icon(s) together in a logo as our core branding element. The ideal concept should represent the following ideals and concepts:
* Education or Educational
* Financial knowledge
* Saving / investing
* Nonprofit (we are not in business to sell, we are in business to educate)
* Individuals investing for financial security over the long-term
Wants: A modern, clean, conservative logo that successfully incorporates our core branding concepts outlined above. Colors like darker blues and darker greens that are often used in the financial services industry, or more muted earth tones would be preferred. We also favor simpler, stronger graphical elements over very detailed, or intricate ideas.
Don't wants: We DO NOT want to use any colors, fonts, or other visual elements that could be considered "flashy", or "garish". We do not want to use any particularly "loud" colors, like bright orange for example--we prefer more muted or darker colors (with appropriate highlights, of course).
I have added a png file showing the greek letter alpha. In investment management, alpha stands for the value-added of a manager or mutual fund over a relevant index. The Passive Project advocates that even though alpha appears real and attainable, in reality it is illusory and mostly unattainable. I envision using design to place this message in the alpha symbol. For example., the left-most part of the alpha symbol can be solid, and the symbol increasingly becomes transparent (using dots, etc) as the eye moves right. "Alpha seems real, but disappears over time."
This symbol should be placed on the left of the project name.
