We want our 4 (at least) mascots designed.
Please have a look at this article showing a draft:
Our own idea of style would be like this: http://www.cs-club.com/kototsurugi/
Kototsurugi is a former Pro Sumo wrestler. We approached him to design for us, but he declined being too busy (and he really is.) We must not copy his style but create some cute comic characters that emulate his passion for ‘kawaii’. ( “Kawaii” is the Japanese version of “cute”. A little different from your imagination maybe. :) )
What we want - the idea so far about our first crew:
The two in the picture fully designed plus 2 more like the red-haired girl.
(A Jamaican boy with long dreadlocks of about 22 years (a young Bob Marley but NOT smoking ;) ) and an Asian girl, Mongolian or a young Indian girl maybe... All university student-age. ) No shoes! No hats, no over styled Gothic Lolitas or so. No items if possible and nobody is overweight. Plain and simple like red-head. They all need names as well as a little CV, but this is no must for you to create.
The youngsters symbolize the international internship seekers we bring to Japan. They wear Amateur Sumo- outfits. (Gymnastic suit and a Sumo belt, called Mawashi. The girls as well as the boys shall wear them.)
The suits shall be blue and the Sumo belt is dirty-white. In the middle of the belt, the flag of the country of the youngster would be nice, real-life size about 20x13cm. Red-haired girl's nationality you choose. Asian girl = Mongolian, and Jamaican boy.
Again, none of them is overweight, but the professional Sumo wrestler!
(Amateur Sumo has weight classes and girls do it too.)
The Japanese Sumo wrestler is a PRO and symbolizes our organization. He has blue belt, any color we use in our logo or close to it. He could wear a Kesho Mawashi too, with our logo on it or “Global Internship Association” written on it. It is basically a kind of apron, the belt’s (mawashi) first layer holds it up. http://kesho-mawashi.blogspot.jp/20…shima.html
(We want to win a current active Super Star of Sumo, Hakuho, to become our real-life Mascot. That would be him, but the little big comic-guy shall just look cute and not be a caricature of Hakuho.) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped…anuary.JPG
cute, plain characters, smiling and full of energy in their uniform
they shall have a visible national background
use our logo and colors from our website
please do not draw any shoes, accessary or hats etc.
not too many stereotypes concerning the nationalitis
nobody of the interns is fat
P.S. - if we have 4 mascots, we can also have 5 or 6. :) Be creative. What we will need for later purposes is a Japanese boss and Japanese co-workers friendly with the interns, the mascot's family members and so on. Since we are going global, in the very end (years to come) we want one character per country / cultural area. But as you know, we must be careful with stereotypes, even needing something to make people understand where one is from. Here we need your magic! Be creative, introduce to us your George from England, Jesus from Mexico or Sarbani from India. :)
