Note 2: try to go in the direction of Great concept.png (see attachment)
Our app is called "DesignKit for Pages: Templates". In our app we have over 7,000 templates (flyers, resume, posters, bookmarks, business cards etc.), editable illustrations, charts, infographics & much more, all made for Apple Pages. Download our app for more information: https://geo.itunes.apple.com/us/app…2&app=apps
We are completely redesigning our Mac OS X app icon & overall branding of the app.
At first we tired to communicate creativity & that was a mistake, our customers didn't respond well to this branding. So now we want to create an icon, that would be more clear what the app is about, and communicate professionalism & trustworthiness.
We are trying to be the "App store for templates". Our new UI is very similar to Mojave app store UI. Our competitors all have "serious" app icons, so we want to move to that direction.
Most importantly, we want our new icon to clearly communicate that there are templates inside the application. This can be done by layers (or pages) stacked on top of each other, I will attach many examples of this.
Another idea to possibly incorporate in the app icon is that it is a "Kit" - building blocks, maker, toolkit, or similar ideas. Our app is a DIY document/design maker for Pages, so this idea could be further explored (and if joined together with the template inside idea - could make the perfect icon).
Our icon also must look like OS X app icon, so iOS style icons will not be accepted!
The new icon should also be highly visible in the Mac Appstore. I will attach some screenshots where you should add the new icon to test its visibility between other app icons.
Further, it would be great if this icon (or its style), could be easily repurposed for our other template applications. Currently, our app is Templates for Pages, but in the near future we are releasing Templates for Keynote & Templates for MS Office apps & it would be great if our app icons would have similar style & design. This point is not a must, but a nice to have feature that could help you win the contest.
Finally, colors. We currently use orange color to communicate that the templates are for Pages (Pages app has orange branding). I would suggest using orange/ yellow color for this icon, but again this is not a must & we will consider all color options.
1. Most important: our app should tell users that there are templates inside
2. Style: serious app/product, trustworthy, modern, clean, but friendly
3. Would be great if it explains its a kit/builder/maker
4. Must be highly visible on the App Store (possibly by use of bright colors)
5. Would be great if it could be easily repurposed for our other template applications
6. Must look like OS X app, not like iOS app icon
7. Try to use orange color to explain this app is for Pages
8. Please see Great concept.png attachment - I think this could be a perfect concept
