Second time user of 99designs is fired up for another successful design contest. Bring it on!
I am a web marketing consultant looking to greatly improve my image. My strong suit is building web sites and web marketing campaigns. I guide clients through the technology options and simplify it so that they are empowered to do things themselves. My background is in engineering, but I’m a woman and most of my clients are women. My goal is for visitors to get a taste of my calm, capable and cheerful energy when they visit the site.
I have a logo (see attached files - .png + .ai format including fonts “sansation bold” and “aalte haas grotesk”) but I am not wedded to it. Would be happy to change it if there’s a compelling font that you’d be using in the site anyway.
1.what to convey - power through simplicity, calmness, subtlety. Creating order from the chaos of technology options.
Our clients are 75% female entrepreneurs in the US. We don't want to alienate men, but we want to target the market that is working for us - women 30-60 years old who own their own businesses. They are independent, smart, and resourceful, but not necessarily tech savvy. We want to have some fun with the site and make ourselves appear high quality, expensive, and great to work with.
We like subtle emphasis & accents, big and stylish fonts, lightly textured backgrounds, lots of negative space, usage of icons.
Examples of sites we like for a home page:
http://us.moo.com/ - love the horizontal sections of the site, colors, and the way they segment their offerings.
http://www.montylounge.com/ - like the combo of cool typography, quotes, and minimalism.
Like the font on this http://www.revolvedesign.co.uk/#/contact/ , also like the slightly yellow gradient
http://yaronschoen.com/ - love the nerdy testtubes and headlines, as well as his footer.
And an example of a layout we like for the portfolio page:
http://www.jduerr.com/portfolio/smith-teamaker/ - I like the way the information is well organized and there are dotted lines to separate each element of the portfolio detail. Fonts are great too.
Examples of the kinds of design elements we’d be open to for the home page and/or layout are in designelements.zip (but not a requirement)
We are looking for a web home page design and portfolio page design that incorporates the following guidelines:
This is a website. It will be a WordPress site.. Navigation elements will be html text, not images. I also want there to be a 100% wide header and footer (a la http://www.freelancer.com, but not necessarily those colors; in fact I’d rather something more subtle).
Colors: We are open, but we want predominantly white. A couple of color combos we like are
- a bluey purple (see blue_purple.jpg) with a hint of lemony white, and
- grays with a single pop of color as seen in the examples sites in target audience section
Size: 960 pixels wide not including padding on sides, so 1000 pixels wide total.
8. things to avoid - photos of people, overtly technical imagery (e.g., internet packets, etc)., big colored boxes
The files we will require are:
• Web file format - .ai CS3 or earlier, preferably using fonts you can get on a free place like dafont.com. We are including copy for the home page and portfolio pages in an attachment.
