The theme is a play on "Level up" in gaming. Polar Party has always been game-oriented, and we want a design that takes us from the old, to the new. Designers can choose a color scheme they see fit, but bear in mind this logo will also be used in e.g. t-shirts.
We want a design that connects the concept of "levelling up" based on our 20 year history (preferably, but not necessarily linked to the celebration). It's important to us that the design reflects the transition from 1997 to 2017, for example a transition from retro gaming to modern games.
Polar has a logo known as "the planet". This is available in vector graphics. We have a tradition of having this on all of our designs, but modified to fit current years design.
The Polar planet must be included in one form or another.
Title "Polar Party 26" with this spelling.
This years event title "Levelling up" must be represented.
Possible design directions:
A design that merges for example pixel graphics from old Super Mario to modern games. A transition from the old and nostalgic to new and modern. This may include graphics in form of a side-scroller / playform game that begins very old-fashioned on the left side, but hypermodern on the right side.
Note that the Super Mario characters or other proprietary graphics cannot be used, but references to example graphics as attached is fine. Many open-source graphics derivatives can be used, for instance http://supertux.github.io/ or http://www.secretmaryo.org/.
One other possible direction is in form of a mascot, like a polar bear (reference to mascot at former events), playing through a game that goes from 8-bit to modern.
Attached is two example graphics that can be used as an inspiration, plus logos from previous events.

Designs with vectors or easily vectorised graphics will have a lead on others. We will require a logo set with background image and components to reuse on posters and other graphics.
