This book targets mothers, particularly those with young children. It’s purpose is to encourage them in their mothering experience. It’s based on the personal journals I kept as I raised our five sons.

Since the book uses the metaphor of a stage production (i.e. , it has three sections which I call Acts. Act I is the childhood age, Act II is the growing boys stage, Act III is the teenage) with individual scenes in each Act.
The scenes are excerpts from my journals. Many are funny, some are sentimental, all are filled with the drama of real life in a boys’ world. After each scene I write in present day setting, showing what we learned as the boys were developing.At the end of the book, the grown-up sons write their reaction to their upbringing.
I want the book cover to convey the idea that something interesting and challenging is going on behind the curtain. I see a stage curtain with indication that several boys are behind it, maybe having feet showing underneath, maybe a child’s hand sticking out of the curtain, holding a handmade sign with the book title painted on it in child’s writing.I like boldness, strong colors, clean lines.
There is nothing soft about our family. I want the cover to challenge the potential reader to want to “see” what’s behind the curtain.
This is my idea, but please feel free to play with creativity!
The image I’m sending will probably go on the back of the book. I don’t see how it can relate to the title, but maybe you can! I get great reactions when people see it.
