A little about the author, after graduating with a journalism degree, Joe Start jumped over to the advertising and marketing side of communications. His day job has been selling media and technology in the US and Europe for more than a dozen years, lately with startups. This is his return to writing, with his first book.
Boy meets country, falls in love. On the road to happiness, boy blocked by country's administration. Can his love last? Or will he take the next exit?
As a target audience, demographically I'm going after 16-55 year-old Americans, and US expats abroad. Psychographically, I believe this book would appeal to anyone with a sense for black humor, an interest in cross-cultural relations or French culture. It could be an impulse buy at an airport newsstand.
Designs zur Inspiration
It's got Expat in the title, and suitcases are a self-explanatory symbol
I love the colour and perspective
I don't know, it's simple, clean, playful, balanced and I think I know right away what kind of book it'll be
I like the offset style, simple understandable image, maybe similar theme
the color and the idea of images floating in space

I'm pretty convinced I want the flags and road signs for top and bottom, title and author. It's the central image that I'd like to improve. it's too dark, too busy, too 'photoshopped.' It could be a drawing instead, or simply arranged in a more attractive and enticing way. The photo of the real French road sign is key to the theme of the book, especially the signs 'toutes directions' and 'autres directions.' But I don't know how to include that without making everything too busy. maybe I have a different funny image on the front, and I move the real sign to the back cover of the paperback. Dimensions should be Kindle trim size 12.85cm x 19.84cm (5.06in x7.81in)
Was vermieden werden soll
Because I use a pseudonym, I'd prefer to keep pictures of my face to a minimum, or artistically transformed to reduce recognition
