Aerieti Chronicles of the Fall: Roa Seeks
Electra Nanou is originally from Thessaloniki, Greece. She is now a copywriter, content writer, and literary blogger based in Norwich, UK. She has self-published two short stories: Familiar and Bumba Queen Weave. Roa Seeks is her first novel.
Nobody saw the Fall coming, but it all started with a key to Hell. The chronicles begin with a magical tale of exiles, disillusionment, and stubborn hope. Demons stir in the world of Itania and Meecha Roa travels from his home world to investigate. But all he knows about Itania is what other agents of the angels have recounted. A place of magic, dragons, elves, humans and simmering strife. It’s a simple enough mission: track down and recruit a rogue elf by the name of Azare. At the same time, find out what the demons and their servants are up to. Except nothing is simple in Itania. Meecha quickly realises that what he seeks on his epic adventure are not just answers for the Aerieti, but also about himself. Through bloodshed, heartache, but wonders too, his discoveries will shake his heart and loyalty to the core. Will he and his band of misfits be enough to protect Itania from a monstrous threat? One of many faces…
Primarily for adults, but younger readers would enjoy it too. A general audience that likes epic fantasy with psychological and societal depth.
Farben zur Inspiration
Book size: 6x9. Fonts: combination of serif and sans serif (see title page for ideas). Mood: modern art nouveau with more fun, abstract lines. Since the illustrations inside lean towards art nouveau, I'd like the cover to match. Generally, I like striking colours and elegant lines. Now, I hope this doesn't get confusing... I have two variations of a cover concept in mind. I'd be happy with a quality design of either one - whichever works best as an effective cover. Version No. 1: the protagonist's form (hobbit-sized with a jazz hat) set on the bottom right quarter of the front cover. Rising behind him is a ribbon-like design featuring the forms of 3 secondary characters (those featured in the illustrations MINUS the cub) and a demon (book extract with description provided). For the printed version, the demon can appear on the back cover, while the ebook can just feature the 4 characters. Version No. 2: the outlines of the 4 characters within each other, facing forward and starting with the big white feline as the largest. Then it's the elf, human and halfling (he should have a bit more detail visible). Some kind of radiating effect might be nice or anything that makes the outlines a bit more interesting. I imagined this concept in the middle of the front cover or to one side (even halved vertically with the characters' profiles turned inwards). The demon could still appear at the back for the printed version. There's a lot of freedom and I love surprises, so whatever looks coolest in either style would be fantastic. Another element of the story you could play with a bit in terms of aesthetics (colours, shapes, etc.) is its intergalactic background. Additional character detail: The feline (Chione) is white, golden-eyed and a bit bigger than a liger. The elf (Azare) is tall, lean and with a bad temper. Has coppery skin with subtle scars, black hair with shaved sides and black arrowhead tattoos down to his nose - he uses two long swords. The human (Bandil) is shorter than the elf with curly black hair and uses a longbow. And the halfling (Meecha) has ginger neck-length curly hair with a dreadlock on the left and a black jazz hat with a brown speckled feather on the left side. The last two characters are a bit tanned. You don't need to be so precise, as long as you can sort of tell who is who is the design. Abstraction and creativity is appreciated.
Was vermieden werden soll
I prefer illustrations to obvious stock images. If the latter are used, they should be tasteful and subtle.

Wickard has a amazing talent, this is my second cover he made for me and he doesn't disappoint. I'll be coming back for another project and recommend Wickard to anyone needing a design. He is spot on with what vision I have for the cover. Love it!
