The Lost Colony: Book One of the Junesa Chronicles
(I envision the About the Author material to go on the inside page of the back cover, or in the final pages, so it won't be on the cover, but I've pasted it below to give you an idea of who you're working with):
Once a devout atheist, William Ray became a Christian through a personal experience with Jesus at the age of 23, serving for more than two decades in pastoral ministry before pursuing the writing projects that had been placed on his heart. In addition to The Junesa Chronicles, William is the author of Burden Stone: A Novel of the Camino de Santiago, the instructional book Answered Prayer: The Jesus Plan, the practical reference book Bible Sidekick: Study Helps for Believers New and Old, and the light-hearted reference book The 100 Most Entertaining Predictions about the 21st Century. William also oversees his sermon stories website for pastors, illustrationsforsermons.com. He lives in the Arizona desert with his wife and best friend of 34 years, Lynette.

The book is about a rescue mission to save a lost colony of earthlings on a distant planet (see the story summary in the Back Cover details section for a short description of the story).
I would like the book's cover to capture main event of the novel’s first chapter, that of a modern spaceship (in the space shuttle style) screaming damaged and smoking over a valley in which primitive slaves work the fields—slaves who are amazed/terrified at the sight of the ship, which to them seems like some monstrous bird. Prominent among the slaves in the fields should be one beautiful young black-haired woman, Ahbbie, the book’s heroine. You will have to read chapter one to be able to capture this scene, so I have attached it—it is only 6 pages long. I have also attached a document that describes 1) the kind of clothes the slaves wear, and 2) the physical appearance of the book’s heroine, Ahbbie.
The general science fiction reader, with a particular appeal to the Christian science fiction market

I imagine a cover that shows the opening event in the story - a modern spaceship in the space shuttle mode screaming over a valley filled with slaves from a Dark Ages-type world, shocking them and especially drawing the attention of a beautiful black-haired slave girl.
