Was inspiriert Sie und wie stellen Sie sich das Design für Ihr Unternehmen vor?
Cover for book about honest friendship. Raw and humerous look at cancer, death, single parenting and what next? It is a book about me, inviting people to dare to show up a bit more by my setting an example with my own journey. I have friends who want the peace they see in us but would tell me to 'fuck off' if I suggested a workshop or book. This is my attempt to build a bridge between the two worlds. Paying attention to the ordinary 'gurus' that sit over a cuppa at my table.
This book is targeted at women staring out kitchen windows hungry for more. Some men have really liked it or some find it too confessional. The book leads to an online forum to support people to try being more honest. If you want to get a feel of the book there are a few excepts on fb page Mary Had Stretch Marks. The thoughts that I had of an image so far is around the idea of what is shared over a cuppa. The title does refer to Mary in the christian context but I like it being any Mary as in all women with stretchmarks. That is a place where women can measure a quality of intimacy because when we are comfortable to show our stretchmarks we can usually trust this is a real friend :O) For me it is important that there is something warm, inviting and human about the image. I am completely new to this and happy to receive any questions or guidance that may help clarify anything. Thanks a million x
My thought originally was a glossy white cover with the edge of a coffee table and the sense of two people over a cuppa with pastel tones on table cloth etc. I would love something more quirky and in touch with the honesty and simplicity of the message. I have no limits in terms of the medium used. A friend did a great image but they did not want to change it to meet the publishers suggestions. This person is used to fine art as opposed to graphic design. They did a fab job. I am back to the drawing board and open to anything. Another friend suggested a play on 'Mary had (a little lamb)' mug sitting on a table with a pot of stretch mark cream but it doesn't suggest the content of the book. Most self help type books are written when the person has come through angst. It tends to be when they shed the angst they write their 'answers' found... my book leaves the angst in and tries not to have too many answers. It's very simple and most people who read it say they completed it in a night or two and cried and laughed a fair bit . The book has been compared to 'Tuesdays with Morrie' but described as more viseral and warm. I purchsed the images of the heart and hug from istock for my fb page in case that is of any use x
